Red Beard Studio is a small recording studio on the North West Coast of lutruwita/Tasmania. With a friendly and creative atmosphere, it's perfect for solo artists, duos, and bands to record their music.
My name is Marcus Wynwood and this studio is my happy place.
As well as being a musician myself, I have well over a decade of experience recording and producing music, and I have extensive knowledge of songwriting, production, and the local music scene. I love expermenting with sounds and getting the best out of people. This studio has predominantly been used for my own projects, but I have decided to open it up to like-minded musicians to help them make their projects come to life.
It's small, but Red Beard Studio really punches above its weight.
It's all about making your art come to life.
We can work together to get your song sounding how you imagined. I provide a friendly, relaxed, creative environment so you can feel comfortable when you're creating.
Solo artists, duos, or even bands can record live in the studio. I really enjoy recording guitars, whether it be capturing the beautiful rich details of an acoustic guitar, or the visceral roar of a cranked amp. I can record your song, and then mix it ready for a professional quality release.
You can record your entire project here, or just record your vocals or guitar parts if that's what you need. You could even track your project here, and have it mixed somewhere else.
It's not all about the gear!
Red Beard Studio is small, and that means that every piece of equipment has been a deliberate choice.
My philosophy is: minimal gear, but top quality.
This includes preamps from Neve and SSL, compressors from a DBX and Warm Audio,
a range of guitar effects and amps (1970s Fender, Vox, Orange), a handful of microphones (SM7B, NT55s, WA19, etc...)
and even a 1970s reel-to-reel 4 track tape machine - all in a room acousticly treated with Verbox panels.
