"The songwriting is just so good!" - Triple M
"A top shelf songwriter." - AAA Backstage
"Honest and artful songwriting, incredible guitars." - The AU Review
My name is Marcus Wynwood and I'm a musician from the North West Coast of Tasmania. I am a solo artist in the Alternative/Indie/Punk/Folk space, and have been performing for years around Tassie and interstate.
Marcus Wynwood's resume is as extensive as it is impressive. Not only a founding member of the punk-rock band Captives where he spent almost a decade writing, recording, and relentlessly touring the country - but he’s also riffed to crowds from the Falls Festival, Party In The Paddock, The Envol et Macadam Festival (Quebec), Good Gumnuts Festival, Frankie Fest, as well as playing support slots for COG, Shihad, Tumbleweed, The Damned, Philadelphia Grand Jury, and 28 Days to name a few.
Recently the ARIA Performing Artist and D'Addario Endorsed Artist has focused his attention on his solo work, releasing a string of singles which was quickly followed up by a 6 track EP in December 2023, and then another 7 track EP in October 2024 - all met with fantastic reviews.
Marcus is known for his exciting guitar playing, thoughtful lyrics, and his engaging style of songwriting. Either playing gentle acoustic guitar, or energetic post-punk/indie-rock, the Australian guitarist, singer, and songwriter shows no signs of slowing down. Featured in Australian Guitar Magazine as a "Guitarist to Watch", Marcus has well and truly earned his title.
Recent highlights include:
