SOMETHING IN MY EYE IS OUT FRIDAY 26 NOVEMBER 2021 THROUGH COLLISION
COURSE/MGM DISTRIBUTION
Long-term fans of Captives will recognise the name Marcus Wynwood. For close to a decade, he toured, wrote and riffed with the band, but now the songweaver has stepped out on his own...
Tasmanian musician Marcus Wynwood has returned to release music
under his own steam and moniker. His brand new single 'Something in my
Eye' is out now through Collision Course and MGM
Distribution and is available on all major streaming platforms here: http://ffm.to/somethinginmyeye.
The new single was Written, Performed, and Recorded by Marcus, Mixed by Jon Grace (Bakers Eddy, Dear Seattle) and
Mastered by Samuel K Sproull (The Getaway Plan, Bodyjar).
Marcus opened up about the meaning of
the track. "The song is influenced by anxiety and feeling that you’re not enough or that you’ve missed your shot. It's a commentary of overcoming feelings
of inadequacy and
that no one cares. Feeling like you are yesterdays news, or feeling
like you couldn't do it. In the song I say that these feeling are
"never gonna stop me". I couldn't see what I was capable of, because
these feelings were blinding me - there was something in my eye. So I see it as a positive, healing, liberating
song. Always trust yourself and just go for it."
The video for the single was shot in Penguin, Tasmania at the base of Mount Montgomery, and also at Wings Wildlife Park, where he and the director
(David Sturges from DAS Productions) was granted
access to shoot footage with the Tasmanian Devils. Marcus acknowledges and pays respect to the Tasmanian Aboriginal
people as the traditional and original owners of the land the music
video was filmed on and thanks the wildlife park.
Marcus has a TONNE of arrows to his bow. He is
a D'Addario Endorsed Artist, been featured in Australian Guitar as a Guitarist to Watch, performed
on the main stage at Falls Festival, and toured Australia and Overseas. Marcus cowrote, toured, and played guitar
on every Captives release from 2013 until 2020 - who were
signed to Cooking Vinyl, Inertia Music, and The Harbour Agency. In 2018, Captives won a triple J competition to have a music video produced by
National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) and were
featured in Rolling Stone, had music videos played on rage and Channel [V], and their music played on Triple J, Triple M, The Faction and more.
Add in that he is also an accomplished producer and that's a
lot of feathers in his cap-with-very-little-real-estate-left - he has
also produced and recorded a number of artists, including Alpha Wolf, Catchpenny, Justin Heazlewood, Ventilate and Mankind.
