A well known musician on the NW Coast of Tasmania, Marcus has had a Number 1 on Triple J Unearthed, performed on the main stage at Falls Festival, toured Australia and Canada with a band, and has 20+ years experience playing as a solo artist or in bands at festivals, pubs, weddings, and special events.
As a solo acoustic artist, expect some rock and blues mixed with some fantastic originals.
Marcus is a founding member and guitarist in "Captives", an Australian punk rock band. Marcus cowrote, toured, and played guitar on every release from 2013 until 2020. Marcus, with Captives, has deals with Cooking Vinyl, Inertia Music, and The Harbour Agency. In 2018, Captives won a Triple J competition to have a music video produced by National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA). Captives and Marcus featured in publications such as "Rolling Stone Magazine", had music videos played on rage and Channel [V], are played on Triple J and Triple M, supported some great bands, and toured the country several times.
Marcus created "Zigzag and the Astronauts" - a fictional rock band playing music for kids. The songs are composed, performed, recorded, and produced by Marcus. The album was named the Kinderling Kids Radio Album of the Month in May 2017.
Marcus has also produced and recorded a number of local artists, including: Alpha Wolf, Catchpenny, Justin Heazlewood, Ventilate, Mankind and more.
Marcus is an experienced guitar tutor, holds a Diploma of Music, and has taught privately, at Encore Performing Arts Studio, and in schools for a number of years.
Marcus is a huge supporter of young local musicians, and has been a judge at the Tasmanian Rock Challenge in 2017, 2018, and 2019. Marcus created and organised a monthly songwriters event to give upcoming original musicians the oppertunity to network and perform, which he ran for 3 years.
